An incredibly beautiful and unique mix of Japanese cabbage in white, cream, pink, purple-violet, and green colors. It is edible, but it is usually bred as decoration. Annual and cold-resistant. Sow seeds directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Spread the seeds above loamy rich soil and do not cover. Keep the soil moist until germination. When seedlings are 3-4 inches tall, thin them to about 18-24 inches apart. Start seeds indoors 6-10 weeks before the last frost is expected. Sow 1 seed in a pot filled with a peat mixture. After the last frost, transplant into a sunny spot with light sandy, or loamy, soil rich in nutrients 20 inches apart. Immediately after planting, fertilize the soil with nitrogen and organic top dressing once. Water every 2 days and in warm climates every day.
