One single plant will give you hundreds of dried flowers.
Globe Amaranth flower seeds readily produce these bright little golf ball-like blooms. They look so attractive on the bushy, well-branched plant that they're the perfect complement to everything else in the sunny garden in USDA Zones 3 - 10 as an annual plant.
Butterflies will flock to Gomphrena, and they make an excellent cut flower for either fresh or dried arrangements. The flower heads are quite popular for use in dried arrangements and will hold their shape and color indefinitely.
The branched stems are stiff and the plant has a bushy appearance. The leaves are oblong and from 4 - 6 inches long, and wooly-white when they are young. The clover-like flower heads, 1 1/2 inches long, are on upright spikes from summer until frost.
The individual flowers within the flower heads are inconspicuous, but the stiff, papery bracts that form the bulk of the structure are colorful and come in several showy shades. Sow 1 - 2 seeds per plant
A flower that maintains its coloring and shape when dried, globe amaranth, also referred to as gomphrena, is beautiful in any type of craft project such as dried bouquets, wreaths and terrariums.
