About PowerCoil 3520-WK1 110-Piece Metric Free Running

The PowerCoil 3520-WK1 metric threaded insert assortment contains 110 free running metric coarse threaded inserts for adding high-strength internal threads in new holes, replacing worn or stripped threads in an existing hole, or converting inch-size threaded holes to metric sizes. The spring-like structure of the PowerCoil flexes to absorb stress, allows use of smaller and shorter threads, and compensates for a screw's pitch and flank angle better than standard tapped holes. The helical coil construction fits into existing designs without difficulty, and may allow use of thinner sections or lighter parent materials without sacrificing thread strength. The inserts are made from grade 304 stainless steel wire, are heat and corrosion resistant for extended thread life, and improve both static and dynamic loading bearing capabilities. The smooth surface finish of the inserts prevents friction-induced thread erosion. The assortment includes 25 each of M5 x 0.80, M6 x 1.00, M8 x 1.25, and M10 x 1.50 threaded inserts, and 10 each of M20 x 1.75 threaded inserts. These inserts have a compact installation length of 1.5 times the diameter, a minimum tensile strength of 200,000 psi, and a Rockwell hardness of C43-C50. The assortment includes a drill bit, tap, installation tool, and tang break tool for each of the five threaded insert sizes. The drill bits are made of uncoated high-speed steel (HSS) and have a jobber length drilling depth for a versatile midrange drilling depth in a range of materials, including soft metals. Once the hole has been drilled, the intermediate tap creates a holding thread within the hole that is used to guide the threaded insert into place. The installation tool grasps the threaded insert by the tang to manually wind the insert through the holding thread for accurate placement. After the threaded insert has been installed, the tang break tool snaps the tang from the insert to provide an unobstructed path for threaded screws. The rubber-coated handle of the installation and tang break tools ensures a comfortable and sure grip. Threaded inserts are internally threaded bushings used to line the inside of a drilled hole to repair worn or stripped threads, convert the existing thread to a different system of measurement, or provide a strong, durable thread in a soft material.
