About Lotus Foods Organic Premium White Dehraduni Basmati

The word ‘basmati’ comes from Sanskrit for fragrant. The superior flavor, fragrance and texture of the Dehradun variety is what elevated basmati rice to its current worldwide popularity. Unfortunately, many farmers have switched to basmati hybrids, bred for yield not taste, so this ancient rice is slowly disappearing. We’ve partnered with organic farmers in Uttara hand, India to preserve this variety for generations to come. Even better, the farmers growing this rice are using More Crop Per Drop practices to produce more rice with less water, labor and impact on climate. Ideal for any dish, our Organic Brown Dehradun Basmati rice can be enjoyed on its own or as a key ingredient in pilafs, salads, stir fry's or puddings.
