Everyone’s favorite: chocolate milk! Except we skip the whole cow thing and make it from beautiful gluten-free oats instead of milk. In case you’re wondering who “we” is…or are, well it’s us, Oatly. The original oatmilk company from Sweden. We’re about to tell you our story but if that sounds boring, please skip ahead to the next paragraph. Thirty years ago there was no Oatly, just some researchers at a university in a country mistakenly known for polar bears roaming the streets, nerding out on ways to turn oats into milk and creating a production process to keep the beta-glucans (big, scientific word for soluble fiber) intact so that we could go nuts making all kinds of oatmilks and oatcreams and oatspreads and then share this oat history on the internet so that one day you might happen to read about how the first oatmilk in the world was invented and perfected and want to give it a try, which in the humble opinion of the guy writing this excessively long sentence, would be totally oatsome. So Oatly Chocolate Oatmilk is one of those products that marketing people love because they get to say things like “for kids from 2 to 102!” But let’s just say kids, teens, adults, lactose intolerants, lactose lovers, vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians, carnivores -- all fans, in case you were wondering. It’s a delicious chocolate treat with no dairy, no soy, no nuts, no gluten, no GMOS, no whatever. What it does have is a wonderful texture without any stabilizers, gums or thickeners. And the beta-glucans (a big, scientific word for soluble fiber, but if you read our story you already knew that), extra vitamins (A, D2, riboflavin, B12) and calcium mean you can pretty much guzzle the stuff all afternoon. That’s why we put it in a 32 ounce container. It’s in an ambient package so it ships nicely and you can store it at room temp. Tastes amazing chilled or heat it up, grab a blanket and get cozy.
