Natural Flax is an ancient fiber that can be spun into linen - it is cool to the touch and most prized for making fashionable summer garments. It is a strong, durable fiber with an average staple length of 5 inches and can be spun by itself or blended with other fibers. If you have not tried spinning flax, it is not hard at all... the sliver requires no special preparation and drafts easily. You may want to dampen the fiber a bit and work with a towel on your lap to catch any chaff. The yarn may be a bit stiff at first but softens from handling, knitting, washing and wearing and will last a long, long time!
