The Ashford Traditional Double Drive Spinning Wheel. The most popular spinning wheel in the world. Why is it so popular? In double drive mode the drive band knob controls both drive band and bobbin take-up. You can also easily switch to single drive mode (scotch tension) by doubling up the drive band on the whorl and using the optional brake system on the bobin. The bobbins are quick and easy to change. The double drive flyer and whorl allows for a wide variety of yarn to be spun. Easy Maiden bar adjustment allows perfect alignment of the 3 speed whorl. The Ball bearings and large 22 inch drive wheel makes treadling smooth and effortless. The wide legs give good stability especially when speed spinning. The treadle is pivoted to allow for comfortable heel-toe action. The single drive model uses the scotch tension brake adjustment. This model is unfinished. Applying a finishing is not required. Stain, lacquer, wax or paint are all great options to make your wheel unique. This single treadle wheel can be converted to double treadle with the purchase of the Traditional Double Treadle Kit.
