This book describes the startling events that unfolded at Lourdes in 1858 when Our Lady appeared 18 times to a 14-year-old girl named Bernadette at a rock face named Massabielle. The villagers, priests and politicians of the town all derided her, but the incredible miracles that were associated with the spring that formed at Massabielle silenced all her critics and as she later said, “They all finally believed in the Apparitions and they all died with the crucifix pressed to their lips.” The medical experts who investigated the cures stated that the phenomena were “beyond the comprehension of the human mind” and when Bernadette’s remains were exhumed 46 years after her death, her body was still undecayed, prompting the physician to declare that “this was not a natural phenomenon.” To date, over 7000 healings have been attributed to Lourdes of which 70 have been accepted by the Church. The book covers the life of Bernadette, her long road to sainthood and Our Lady’s message of hope for us all.
