About Modern Literal New Testament Greek Interlinear: New
Since the first Greek interlinear, most have attempted to be a translation. Often these one-man interlinears are quoted as some kind of proof that ‘its translation’ is superior to the one in XYZ version. This interlinear is not a translation, but a translation ‘word by word’ or ‘word for word’. The English in this interlinear is barely readable as a sentence. This interlinear has two purposes. First, it is to be one more book available to help anyone who wants to make the ‘Modern Literal Version New Testament’ even better or to check its accuracy vs. XYZ version. Second, it is designed for Greek students, those somewhat fluent in Koine Greek, and those that have not memorized the 5401 Greek words necessary to read the N.T. without a lexicon. Besides the base words, there are many second tenses that have to be memorized, various spellings, and endings of the different forms: verb, adverb, adjective, noun, etc. (3.5 years roughly). This Greek Interlinear is probably better to use as a ‘learn how to translate’ guide than a Greek Bible and 30+ word memorization tables each week. The class time can be used for explanation and translations of various idioms, sentence structures, etc. vs. constant memorization and ‘here is what this word is’ type explanations. Work with the ‘Modern Literal Version’ has shown that a Greek concordance should be used heavily in translation since less than 10% of the words in the Greek Bible have multiple meanings. The Greek text used here is ‘The New Testament in the Original Greek, Byzantine Textform 2018, Compiled and Arranged by Maurice A.
