San Marzano tomatoes, and the tomato paste that is made from them, are almost universally considered to be the best tasting tomatoes in the world. From the San Marzano Valley in Southern Italy near Naples, these tomatoes have thicker flesh, fewer seeds and a sweeter, less acidic flavor. The tomatoes that make this double concentrate paste, however, are not grown in Southern Italy - instead, they come from authentic San Marzano seeds grown in fertile California dirt. This tomato paste is great mixed with simmered cream to make a great tomato cream sauce.
