Due to its enduring popularity, the original recipe for the Necco Wafer has remained essentially unchanged over the years, and now is no exception. Wafers are gluten-free and are made on dedicated equipment. The facility where they are made contains milk, eggs, and soy. These crispy wafers include the chocolate nostalgic flavor we all remember as kids. Since 1847, these candies continue to make memories just a little sweeter. From the time of their creation, Necco Wafers have been enjoyed all over the world, quite literally. The candy was carried by soldiers during the Civil War and by explorers on early Arctic expeditions. During World War II, the U.S. government requisitioned a major portion of the production of Necco Wafers.
