About Towards An Architecture Of Responsibility

About the Author Marc Thorpe earned a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Design from the University of Maryland, followed in by a Masters Degree in Architecture, with Honors, from Parsons School of Design in New York. Thorpe was awarded the Scholastic Award for Scholarly Pursuit by the American Institute of Architects and the American Architectural Foundation and received the Alpha Rho Chi medal for architectural leadership and professional excellence. He was awarded the Good Design Award and the American Architecture Award by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and Metropolitan Arts. Product Description The works presented in this book reflect an optimistic vision of the future. The buildings present themselves in a humble and respectful manor through their systemic integration of the environment. Honest in their use of material and construction, each project deploys sustainable strategies such as locally sourced woods, earth brick construction, water harvesting, passive design, native landscaping, and renewable energy production. Unique in narrative, context, history, and location, they all share one common theme: self-awareness.
