The AltumView Sentinare smart activity sensor is a powerful tool for senior care, home care, and remote patient monitoring. It was a CES 2021 Innovation Awards Honoree, and is one of a few devices certified to work with Amazon’s Alexa Together service (only in US now). The sensor uses the latest AI algorithms to monitor the activities of people, and notifies caregivers when emergencies such falls are detected. It is especially useful for people living alone, and provides peace of mind to their loved ones. The most distinctive feature compared to traditional surveillance cameras is that only stick figure animations are transmitted out of the sensor, instead of videos. This protects the privacy of the people, and still provides valuable visual information. The stick figure can also be saved in the cloud for playback and health analytics. The main features of the system include: fall detection, fall risk assessment, waving for help detection, face recognition, restricted region monitoring (e.g., to detect wandering of dementia patients), action recognition and statistics, stick figure recording, night vision, and voice call. Sentinare can work independently, or works jointly with Amazon’s Alexa Together if the user subscribes to the service. In this case, when a fall is detected by Sentinare, it will notify Alexa, and the Alexa speaker will ask if the person needs any help. If yes, a 24x7 available human operator will call the person through Alexa to provide emergency help.
