Hand strung beaded ornaments from Guatemala.
This hummingbird is hand-beaded by indigenous Guatemalan artisans from the rural village of Chukmuk, near Lake Atitlan. They are made using only beads and thread, with recycled plastic bags as stuffing. All hummingbirds are made using first-class Czech beads.
Unlike weaving, which has been practiced in Guatemala since pre-Colombian times, bead work is a relatively new artisan craft in Guatemala.

This beaded hummingbird was created by a master bead artist in Santiago la Laguna, Guatemala, a village of mostly Mayan indigenous people along the shore of Lake Atitlan. Beading has made a tremendous difference in the lives of many indigenous Guatemalans. This colorful and whimsical hummingbird measures 2" wide.
