What is Ultra Premium Mountain Grass? Mountain Grass is grown at a higher elevation and consists of a variety of wild grasses that grow in a mountain meadow. The fields are harvested in the spring and early summer. Our Mountain Grass is a healthy blend of grasses that wild rabbits would naturally feed on and it has the fiber required for keeping up their dental and digestive health. No herbicides or pesticides are used on it, so it’s truly an all-natural product. Mountain Grass contains a variety of textures and colors, which your small pet will enjoy. Typically it has leaves that are fine and coarse in texture with almost no stems. Why Hay is Essential to Their Diet For rabbits 7 months and older, grass hay is an important staple of their diet. While pellets and some vegetables may be safe for young bunnies, and as occasional treats for mature rabbits, grass hay should make up 80% of their diet. This most closely resembles the natural feeding habits of rabbits in the wild and promotes proper digestion and dental health. The constant foraging and grazing encouraged by hay helps to keep rabbits physically active and mentally stimulated. Mountain Grass is high in fiber and low in both protein and calcium content, which is ideal for keeping the digestive tracts of rabbits and other small animals functioning properly.
