Offered from infant US Size 0 through youth US Size 5, Footmates also has an exclusive removable dual insole “Custom Fit System” (CFS) which allows for customized fitting of the shoes to meet the individual needs of children. Mary Jane shoes (sometimes referred to as “doll shoes”) began appearing in the early twentieth century. They were originally named for a character in Richard Outcault’s Sunday comic strip Buster Brown, and in 1904 companies began to market the Mary Jane shoe, based on those worn by Outcault’s eponymous character. The shoe was immediately popular with both boys and girls, though for many the formal and semi-formal Mary Jane has become an enduring and romantic symbol of girlhood.
