Astilbe arendsii `Fanal` Fanal' Adds some color to the shaded landscape with red foliage in the spring that transitions to green for the summer months & that's just the foliage. The deep red flowers top The lacy green foliage in the hot summer months. A great selection for the shaded garden especially useful in Woodland areas or where deer brows is a concern since deer & rabbits tend to leave astilbe's alone. Thrives even in the darkest shade. Grow tipsastilbes should be pruned in the early spring after the last frost. Pruning them in early summer is an option but the longer you wait the more flowers could be lost to the prune. You can prune off spent flowers to keep your plant looking tidy but too much pruning late in the season can spur new growth that is delicate & may be killed off by frosts in the fall & winter & cause undo stress to the plant as well as an unsightly plant.
