About Mitutoyo 552-315-10CAL Absolute Digimatic Caliper

The calibrated Mitutoyo 552-315-10CAL Digimatic caliper is for measuring inner/outer diameters, depth, and step of items in harsh workshop conditions. This caliper has a measurement range of 0 to 6" (0 to 1,500mm), resolution of 0.0005" (0.01mm), and an accuracy of + or - 0.004". The LCD screen displays in inches and metric units. This unit has a thumb roller and Absolute electrostatic capacitance type linear encoder for accurate measurements. This model is Ingress Protection certified IP66 for protection against dust and powerful water jets. Mitutoyo calibrated tools include a Certificate of Calibration that provides evidence that the tool has been calibrated and is within allowable error specifications. Mitutoyo calibrated tools are certified by Mitutoyo's American Association for Laboratory Accreditation-accredited calibration laboratory (A2LA Certificate #750-01) to the International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC) 17025 International Standard for testing and calibration laboratories.Functions include zero set, data hold, offset, preset, automatic on and off after 20 minutes of idle time, and alerts for computing errors and low power or voltage. This caliper offers serial data output (using optional SPC cables with a data switch, sold separately), which increases speed and reliability of digital measurement records. This caliper has a battery life of approximately 3,000 hours of normal use. This unit comes with an SR-44 battery and a fitted, wooden case.Calipers measure the distance between two opposing sides of an object. They make inside, outside, depth, or step measurements, according to their type. Calipers are commonly used in architecture, metalworking, mechanical engineering, and machining. The simplest calipers have two legs to mark the two points and require a ruler to take the measurement. More complex calipers use two sets of jaws instead of legs and have up to two graduated scales. Vernier, dial, and digital calipers give direct and accurate readings and are functionally identical, having a calibrated scale with a fixed jaw, and another jaw with a movable pointer that slides along the scale. The vernier caliper has a scale sliding parallel to the main scale for an additional, fractional reading to improve measurement precision. The dial caliper has a circular dial with a pointer on a toothed gear rack replacing the second vernier scale. As with the vernier, this second measurement is added to the reading from the main scale to obtain the result. The digital caliper takes a differential by zeroing the display at any point along the slide, with an LCD that displays a single value in English and/or metric units.Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and related systems. The company, founded in Tokyo in 1934, formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963 with headquarters in Aurora, IL.What's in the Box?Mitutoyo 552-315-10CAL caliperSR-44 batteryWooden caseCertificate of Calibration
