About Spears 8172-C Series CPVC Bulkhead Tank
This Spears bulkhead tank adapter fitting, in gray, is made of schedule 80 CPVC, has female NPT connections, and is suitable for use in high-temperature chemical industrial applications. This bulkhead adapter fitting connects two tubes through a tank wall. The female National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads connect to male NPT threaded tubes, creating a tighter seal than straight threads. This schedule 80 (thick wall) fitting is made of CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) for corrosion resistance, high strength, and less weight than fittings made from metal. It includes a gasket made of neoprene, or polychloroprene, which is a synthetic rubber with good chemical stability and flexibility over a wide temperature range. This fitting has a maximum internal pressure rating of 150 pounds per square inch (psi) at 73 degrees F and a maximum fluid service temperature of 200 degrees F. It meets American Society for Testing and Materials International (ASTM) 1785 standards for quality assurance and National Sanitation Foundation International (NSF) certification for potable water service.
