About Commodore Best Badger Brush- Simpson Shaving

Described by Simpsons themselves as their most popular inexpensive Shaving Brush in North America, the Commodore is both a luxury item and a workhorse or a grooming tool rolled into one. Filled with Simpsons' most popular grade, Best Badger, this brush is available in three sizes. This particular model is the X3, the largest Commodore, standing at 100mm/3.9 inches. The Commodore range is widely regarded as being some of the best value brushes available from Simpsons. As with all Simpsons brushes, the brush is handmade, with a hand-tied knot. The shape of the loft is formed by careful tying rather than trimming the tips of the hair, which helps to keep the softness of the brush. Best Badger is a slightly stiffer grade than their Super (silvertip) grade, which combined with the dense fill for which Simpsons are know, gives this brush a firm feel, ideal for lathering soaps, though it is just at home with creams. It should be noted, that although the fill of this brush is characteristically dense, it is not as dense as Simpsons more expensive models such as the Chubby. This is not a negative factor (it is a best seller for a reason!), but if you have strong feelings on the density of your shaving brush knot, it should be considered. Simpsons are the manufacturers of the finest shaving brushes from the British Isles, and probably the finest shaving brushes in the world. Since 2008 they have been located on the Isle of Man, after their purchase by another of Britain's top brush makers, Progress Vulfix. Both companies have long, prestigious histories, and fortunately for wet-shavers everywhere, the Managing Director of Vulfix has ensured that Simpsons still produce their legendary brushes to the standard that connoisseurs expect, with the original hand production methods and highest grade fibers. Handmade on the Isle of Man (British Isles)
