  • The strong essential oils are still commonly used in the manufacture of many kinds of perfumes as well as to impart a muscatel flavor to wines, vermouths, and liqueurs during the distillation process. Clary is a hardy plant which needs very little water or attention for growth, it also easy adapts to temperatures below 0F in areas where it grows in the wild.

  • The clary sage blooms early in the summer. The plant develops very fast and grows fully in a year from a seedling to a plant that can reach 3 to 4 ft in length when blooming. Clary sage required good exposure to full sunlight for maximum growth, it also grows well in soils low in nutrients and which are rapidly drained - the clary herb can survive with very little water in the wild.
