Avocado might be better known for its delectable taste in guacamole or other delicacies but its natural properties make for a generous carrier oil. Often used to help fade age spots and smooth away deep wrinkles, Avocado deeply nourishes as it restores natural balance on the skin. Some studies have shown that it can even increase the skin's collagen. Rich with vitamins A, B1, B2, D, E and Beta Carotene, Avocado can actually prevent itchy or dry skin conditions. Native to North and South America, Avocado trees grow up to 60 feet and have dark-green leaves, and yellow flowers that develop into fruit. The familiar brown kernel is surrounded by a soft and buttery pulp. Avocados grown in Mexico are very different from those harvested elsewhere. The leaves have an anise-like aroma and a higher oil content, making it ideal for cold pressed extraction.
