Outsidepride 1000 Seeds Polka Dot Cornflower Features

  • Children love to grow Centaurea cyanus! The seeds are larger and easy to handle and they germinate easily and bloom 10 – 12 weeks after planting. Commonly known as Cornflower or Bachelor Button, this Polka Dot mix has colors of white, blue, rose and lavender.

  • Cornflower is an annual wildflower reaching 24 - 30 inches in height growing across the US in USDA zones 3 - 10.

  • Cornflowers make a beautiful display in a mass planting. They are great for cutting and drying and are used as everlastings in dried arrangements. Cornflower prefers a position in full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil, and they are usually resistant to deer.

  • Sow 10 - 12 seeds per plant or 6 seeds per foot. Directly start the seed outdoors in a prepared seedbed as soon as the soil can be worked. With a temperature 65F, germination is usually within 28 days. Press the seed into the soil, cover it 1/4 inch deep and keep it moist.

  • Some gardeners recommend successive plantings to extend the bloom season. Cornflowers are very good at reseeding themselves for next year’s display.
