Many massage therapists use Vetiver to relieve joint and muscular pain. Native to Asia, the tropical grass grows about 4 to 8 feet in height and produces sharp edged leaves, tiny flowers and aromatic roots. The strong roots sink deep into the earth, making the plant ideal for preventing soil erosion. To extract the essential oil, the root is put through a steam distillation process. The thick amber oil mixes well with Sandalwood and other resins.
