Read a little further between the lines, and you’ll see that this little wooden folding knife is in fact so deeply entrenched in French culture that it’s no longer just the name of a company — it’s an icon synonymous with the everyday French necessity, the pocket knife. The N°08 is a versatile pocket knifed sized to fit in a pocket easily and tackle any everyday cutting application. This knife features the Virobloc Safety ring. The Virobloc safety ring was invented and implemented in 1955. This simple yet effective locking system greatly improved the original knife. The ability to help prevent the blade from opening when closed was added to the Virobloc in 2000. This knife has a stainless steel blade that won’t rust; however, avoid leaving your Opinel knife in damp environments for too long and dry the blade after each use. The handle is made of wood and may expand and contract with extreme humidity (or lack thereof) and will temporarily affect the mechanism.
