Easy to Use - Tung oil is a natural oil recognized by craftsmen to offer the ultimate hand-rubbed finish for all fine woods; just wipe on and allow the oil to cure at room temperature
Permeates - Unlike other finishes that form a film on the wood’s surface, tung oil penetrates deep into the wood fibers, cures to a flexible non-oily solid, and becomes part of the wood itself
Protects - Resistant to moisture, alcohol, oil, and everyday wear for lasting beauty and protection; lasts many times longer than mineral oil and wax based products
Multi Use - Amazing results on almost any surface that will allow the oil to penetrate - new unfinished wood, weathered wood, stripped wood, concrete floors and countertops, even brick, stone, and cast iron
Great for Food Contact Surfaces - Since tung oil is considered non-toxic when dry, it is great for cutting boards, butcher blocks, countertops, wooden bowls, wooden utensils, and more

Hope’s 100% Pure Tung Oil is nature's amazing drying oil for fine wood, furniture, and more! It produces the beautiful and classic "hand rubbed" finish on fine wood surfaces. It enhances natural color and grain without leaving a glossy surface coating. It penetrates like an oil then dries to a durable solid that is resistant to water, alcohol, and oils. Hope’s 100% Pure Tung Oil, is just that, Pure! It is not the cheap, thinned down varnish commonly promoted as “Tung Oil Finish”. Additionally, Hope’s Tung Oil is the “best of the best” pure Tung oil grades. We only use premium oil, pressed from the best Tung nut crops from growers around the world. Hope’s has been the trusted Tung oil expert for over 40 years! Hope’s 100% Pure Tung Oil is intended for unfinished wood and surfaces that will allow the oil to penetrate. Overall, the goal is to saturate the surface, allow to penetrate, and then remove all oil from the surface before allowing to dry. Tung oil can be applied with a cloth, brush, or most any applicator suitable for “oil based” paint. A squeegee is a nice option for large flat surfaces. An absorbent cloth is usually best for removing excess from the surface. More porous/absorbent surfaces will usually require 2 or more applications, 12 – 24 hours apart. It is not necessary for the previous application to dry before applying more. On many projects it may be helpful to buff with a mild abrasive pad between applications, to help penetration and enhance smoothness. Tung Oil can be used as it comes from the container or thinned with a solvent such as mineral spirits, turpentine, or citrus solvent. Thinning will ease application to larger surfaces such as floors and may help penetration. It also may produce a slightly different look as the solvent may dissolve oil soluble material in the wood such as sap. Tung Oil dries relatively slow as it reacts with oxygen in the air to cure. A warm, dry, and well-ventilated environment is best. Tung oil is fully cured when it no longer feels oily and its nutty aroma is no longer present. When using on outdoor surfaces, it may be best to treat both the wood and Tung Oil with a suitable biocide to limit mold and mildew growth. Tung Oil, after drying, may be suitable for wooden countertops, cutting boards, bowls, and utensils as it is approved as a coating for food contact surfaces. Tung Oil also acts as a corrosion inhibitor which makes it great for fighting rust on many outdoor metal surfaces such as garden tools and cast iron.
