About the Author Kajornsak Faungnawakij is Director of the Nanomaterials and Nanosystems Engineering Research Unit at the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), Thailand. His research focuses in the areas of nanomaterials and particle technology. Dr Lau is currently an associate professor at School of Chemical and Energy Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and a senior research fellow at Advanced Membrane Technology Research Centre (AMTEC). He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical-Gas Engineering (2006) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Chemical Engineering (2009) from UTM. Dr Lau has a very strong research interest in the field of membrane science and technology for water and wastewater applications. As of April 2020, he has published over 170 scientific papers, 20 reviews, 15 book chapters and 2 edited books. Dr Lau is also the author of the original book entitled Nanofiltration Membranes: Synthesis, Characterization and Applications published by CRC Press in 2017. He is credited with 5 patents in the field of membrane science and technology with his collaborators from academia and industry. He wrote articles on the subject of water saving and reclamation for newspapers and magazines at both national and international level. Currently, Dr Lau serves as the co-editor for Journal of Applied Membrane Science & Technology and has been appointed as guest editors for several peer-reviewed journals such as The Malaysian Journal of Analytical Sciences, Chemical Engineering & Technology (Wiley), Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology (Wiley), Chemical Engineering Research and Design (Elsevier) and Polymers (MDPI). In 2018, he was appointed as Young Professionals Associate Member (YPAM) by International Water Association (IWA) Specialist Group "Membrane Technology". Dr Lau has received many national and international awards.
