Colombian 100% Arabica Ground Coffee The Colombian ground coffee comes from small family owned farms in the growing region in the department of Huila, Colombia. Small coffee producers pick and process their coffee at their own micro-wet mills and then dry their own coffee, typically on elevated tables inside solar dryers that provide protection from the rain. Single origin Excelso beans, semi-shade grown in Colombia's Huila Department. A medium roast coffee with moderate acidity. The bold flavor profile boasts notes of cocoa and soft cranberry while maintaining a smooth and nutty body. The finish is clean and never bitter. The small, family-owned farm is located on steep terrain at elevations varying between 4,000 and 6,000 feet above sea level. The local geography, between the volcano, Nevado del Huila, and the Magdalena River Basin, is ideal for growing coffee: the rich volcanic ash provides lots of organic matter and nutrients while the steep hillsides ensure prime drainage to the river below. EP Harvest means the beans are sorted by hand, in the European tradition to ensure that only the highest quality beans are selected for drying and roasting.
