Falling into Shimano's Road Performance category, the SH-RC7's are meant for speed with a claimed 245-gram weight that sits just two grams higher than the category topping SH-RC9 for a size 42. With a stiff carbon sole and comfortable upper, these shoes strike a balance between race-day aggression and training utility at a cost that pales in comparison to many similarly spec'd options. Shimano fashions the SH-RC7s from perforated synthetic leather, chosen for both is lightweight comfort as well as its ability to usher cooling air throughout the shoe. Each shoe fastens with a micro-adjustable Boa IP1 reel across the top, with wide anchor points evenly distributing pressure. A hook-and-loop strap spans the forefoot for additional adjustability and customization of fit.
