The following book is a step-by-step guide to using the footnotes in Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (BHS) and Biblia Hebraica Quinta. A. Schenker. 2004–.(BHQ) for textual criticism. It is an introduction to how, “Reading BHS-BHQ’ Footnotes,” when dealing with textual criticism. BHS and BHQ are part of the diplomatic editions based on the Leningrad Codex, while the Hebrew University Bible Project (HUBP), which uses the Aleppo Codex as a base text. This introduction focuses on serving students of the level of Batchelor and biblical scholars who have not been acquainted with the textual criticism labyrinth. BHQ is quite new in terms of Masorah critical apparatus, in which the editors only include other variants “judged to be text-critically significant” and “to be potentially significant for translation or exegesis.”
