About Colour Guyana An Adult Colouring Book: Travel Edition

This Colour Guyana Adult Colouring Book is a smaller travel sized version of the original book. It has all of the same designs but in the same size. From the jungle of the Amazon to the city of Georgetown, this is not just an adult colouring book but also a mini tourist guide representing a microcosm of the diversity Guyana has to offer. Guyana is located along the North East Coast of South America bordered by Venezuela, Brazil and Suriname. It is the only English speaking country in South America and the only country considered to be part of the Caribbean that is not an Island. The Guyana flag was first raised on the 25th May 1966. The flag of Guyana is known as The Golden Arrowhead. The coat of Arms of Guyana was granted by the College of Arms on 25 February 1966. The national flower of Guyana is the water lily. The national bird of Guyana is the Hoatzin or Canje Pheasant. City monuments include a statue of Queen Victoria which stands outside the law courts in Georgetown, Guyana. The clock tower at Stabroek Market is iconic landmark. The site was used as a market place from around the late 1700’s. Designed by an American engineer Nathaniel McKay, the market covers an area of about 80,000 square feet (7,000 m2). Today Stabroek market is still a bustling market place and the area is undergoing a beautification process. “Cuffy” is an official national hero and the name popularly given to the statue which commemorates the unsuccessful 1763 slave rebellion. The monument symbolizes the struggle of the Guyanese people for their liberation and was the first sculpture of bronze in Guyana. The Amazon River Basin is home to the largest rainforest on Earth. The basin -- roughly the size of the forty-eight contiguous United States -- covers some 40 percent of the South American continent and includes parts of eight South American countries: Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Columbia, Venezuela, Guyana, French Guiana and Suriname. The forests around Guyana are home to a vast array of wild life, making it a paradise for nature lovers. Over 800 species of birds from 79 families can be found in Guyana. The bird spotter can find the likes of Woodpeckers, Tanagers, Plovers, Macaws, Flycatchers, Hummingbirds, Peregrine Falcons, Festive Parrots, Ibises, Sandpipers, Herons, Storks, Falcons, Finches, Toucans, Eagles, Cotingas, Ducks and Vireos. Shell Beach, located on the Atlantic coast of Guyana in the Barima-Waini Region, near the Venezuelan border, is a nesting site for four of the eight sea turtle species – the Green, Hawksbill, Leatherback and the Olive Ridley. The Peacock Bass fish is given its name because of two spots that appear on the tail and body reminiscent of a Peacocks feather. Many other giant game fish like the Black Piranha, Piara, Arowana, and Arapaima, the largest fresh water fish in the world, can be found in the many waters of Guyana. Guyana boasts over 300 waterfalls. One of its main natural attractions is the Kaieteur Falls, the largest single drop falls in the world. While Kaieteur is spectacular the Orinduik falls are much more user friendly and a popular place for tourists to enjoy swimming in the crystal clear water. The Sea Wall is a 280-mile defensive wall that runs along much of Guyana's coastline protecting settlements, most of which are below sea level, at high tide. Traditional Mehndi designs are used on ceremonial occasions and can be seen decorating venues as well as people. Wrought iron works are very popular throughout Guyana. They provide a decorative element to guard walls, fences, windows and doors as well as added security. All of these aspects of Guyana are represented in this adult colouring book. While the majority of the images are drawn freehand there are also some gray scaled images, including vintage photographs and art work. Learn about the country Guyana as you colour in this fun and informative travel size Colour Guyana Adult Colouring Book.
