Product Description The best paper airplanes ever! Easy to advanced designs that resemble and fly like real airplanes. Don't make another dart or some small barely flying origami creation, build an Advanced Paper Airplane! Detailed pictures guide you through step-by-step construction of 11 Advanced Paper Airplanes such as the F-14, F-16, F/A-18, F-35, A-10, X-29 and more. Test your skills at building and flying these amazing airplanes, or even design your own using included guidance. These paper airplanes are perfect for educators, students, S.T.E.M. demonstrations, science fair projects, pilots and engineers, or family fun. Don't waste your time learning complicated origami steps that only apply to one design, learn a hybrid origami process that will allow you to easily adapt it to your final aircraft design. This process has been used to design flyable biplanes, triplanes, large airplanes such as the U-2, B-1B, airliners, business jets, twin tail boom such as the P-38 and P-61, twin airframe such as the F-82, experimental aircraft, forward swept and variable sweep wings, and many more. The possibilities are endless. Create designs that are easy and forgiving, challenging, or even ones that require a seasoned test pilot or a catapult. The limit is the size of the room or field. Some are capable of reaching over 150 ft when thrown by hand or over 1000 ft if boosted aloft by a model rocket. These paper airplanes are constructed using standard 8.5 x 11 20-24lb printer paper. Use colored pencils, 24lb colored paper, or even stickers to enhance your design. Included designs are approximately 11-12" long with wingspans 6-12". These designs may be successfully scaled up using legal size paper or poster board, and have been tested up to a 46" wingspan. These planes are even capable of being catapulted or rocket launched (Catapult and rocket launch directions are not included). I wanted to design and test airplanes. I was able to do quite a bit with balsa and bass wood. However, both were getting expensive, balsa was too fragile for testing indoors with a catapult, and both were putting holes in walls and ceilings. Standard paper airplanes didn't work well for a science fair experiments and pure origami was even worse. I needed something that flew like a real airplane and wanted something that looked like a real airplane. This process and many of the designs are the result. Fast forward to the present and that curious kid and some curious friends have tested many designs using this process to upscale, catapult, rocket launch (as the rocket and also boosted by a rocket), and use with RC equipment. Many of the successful designs, that we never thought possible, were based on the request of a kid asking "I want ___" or the "what if" of an adult or fellow engineer. The designs were drifting far enough towards the experimental side that it became necessary to build a paper airplane catapult that could eliminate the variations and problems with a hand throw. The catapult verified several designs and yielded a few surprises. Next came the rocket launching. We wondered how fast they could fly and still survive. We thought rocket rockets would result in ripping the wings or tails off, or even catch on fire. We made it work. Take this book and create your own designs and solve your own challenges and share the results with others!
