Experts have selected five varieties from leading Dutch growers for superior growth and blooming in all areas of America. Holland's best bulbs produce big, bright, long-lasting flowers early in the season—weeks before other blooms arrive on the scene. Large flowering crocuses are among the most widely grown early spring bulbs (actually corms). Each 'Pickwick' corm produces several upright, cuplike, silver-lilac flowers with darker lilac stripes on stems rising to 4-6" and basal, grass-like leaves. Versatile and easy to grow. Blooms shortly after snowdrops . Naturalizes well. Position: full sun Soil: gritty, poor to moderately fertile, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: February and March Flower colour: purple-Wite Other features: slender, strap-shaped, mid-green leaves Hardiness: fully hardy Bulb size: 8/9 Culture Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade.
