About Jero Nordic Style Butcher Axe - Specialty Meat

The Nordic Butcher Axe by JERO is produced in small batches each year and are usually sold out before the end of the year. These were originally designed to meet the need of small rural butchers and homesteaders in the Nordic countries. JERO products are very popular in Nordic countries, especially in Norway and Sweden, so when customers started asking for a special tool that could be used as a cleaver, carcass splitter and general camp axe for food processing, the Nordic Butcher Axe was developed. To improve durability, a heavy-duty nylon polymer handle was attached to the tang with stainless steel rivets. The high-carbon stainless steel blade is durable, and holds an edge well, but not too hard to make it difficult to sharpen. Note: these were designed for primarily meat production, though the cleaver can manage some light camp chores such as trimming branches, splitting kindling, breaking ice and etc., though it does not replace a standard axe designed for chopping wood or notching logs. Since 1983 JERO has been manufacturing quality knives, cleavers and tools for many different industries as well as home users. The Nordic Cleaver is manufactured in Portugal using only the highest quality materials.
