About Seville's New Normal: Insider Tips For Visitors 2022

Second Edition / Spring 2022. As an American travel writer living in Seville, I’m deluged with questions about visiting this city in 2022. Is it safe? Is everything open again? What are Spain’s entry regulations? Is the city still fun? Good news! Seville is as vibrant, offbeat, and welcoming as ever. But like the rest of the planet, its social landscape has been reconfigured considerably during the last two years. How? That’s what this book is all about. I first published this guide in late 2021, and already a lot has changed (yes, Omicron, I’m thinking of you) causing unexpected shifts in laws, policies, and social norms. This second edition includes new information, more resources, and a fresh supply of loony stories about how residents and visitors are coping. This is not a conventional guide, with exhaustive listings of monument visiting hours, railway timetables, and hotels in your price range; you can easily find all that online. Instead, I explain how to experience the city as if you lived here. I’ll tell you where I go for sizzling flamenco, fresh churros (fried dough), can’t-miss photos of the Three Kings parade, and a thousand other pleasures that are hallmarks of Sevillano life. This is my personal introduction to the city, the insider tips I’d share with my sisters if we were sitting up late over a bottle of wine discussing their plans to visit Seville this year.
