About Bears By Bissell 2019 Wall Calendar
Contemplative and curious, Robert Bissell’s bears seem to lead lives as complex and thought-filled as those led by humans. Whether making new friends, repairing damage to the earth, or pausing in apparent wonder at nature’s beauty, the bears draw us in to their surrealistic world. Bissell grew up on a farm in Somerset, England, and retains his love of animals and rural life. His keen interest in visuals began at an early age as he documented life around him through photographs. After studying graphic design and obtaining a master’s degree from the Royal College of Art in London, he moved to San Francisco and had a successful career in retail advertising before dedicating himself to painting full-time. He lives in London and regularly exhibits in museums and galleries across the United States and Europe.
