About Wej-It DES58 Expansion Shield Anchor, Zamac

The Wej-It DES58 expansion shield anchor is made of rust-resistant zamac alloy, provides a secure hold in most materials including solid masonry and uncracked concrete even when exposed to side pressure and vibration, and meets Federal Specification GSA FFS-325 Group II Type 2 Class 2 Style 2. The double expansion provides higher holding strength than single-point expansion anchors. The body expands throughout its length, eliminating the high stress points that occur with single-point expansion anchors. Also known as a double shield anchor, the expansion shield anchor has a cone on each side that expands the surrounding sleeve when a threaded machine bolt (sold separately) is inserted through the item being mounted and into the anchor, holding the item and anchor in place within the mounting material. For more information, see the specifications sheet. Anchors provide reinforcement to fasteners installed in materials that are considered brittle or have insufficient hold such as drywall, concrete, brick, and stone. Anchors provide support through methods such as expansion from within or behind the substrate, or insertion of adhesive compounds into drilled holes. Wej-It Fastening Systems manufactures mechanical and adhesive fasteners for use in concrete and drywall. The company, founded more than 60 years ago, is headquartered in Norwalk, CT.
