Review [This book] uses a unique practical style... I love the author's practical tips, such as using a moistened finger to check for air leaks from enclosures. His underfloor sub-woofer enclosures are another great idea. The book is liberally illustrated with clear colourful photos, essential for practical work. From the Author Author YouTube video: youtu.be/yIeZL-MoFMg I've been building my own speakers for many years - and even writing about the designs for print magazines and websites. And I've also bought plenty of speaker building books. But one thing I've always found frustrating about the books is that they require that you buy new drivers and then laboriously build your own enclosures. So what's wrong with that? Well, by the time you buy new drivers and crossovers, in many cases you have already spent more money that buying good quality speakers from a shop! And building the enclosures? I am lucky enough to have a full home workshop (complete with wood-cutting table saw, drop-saw, router and so on) and even I blanche a bit at the thought of building lounge-room quality timber enclosures. So in this book I avoid both shortcomings. The drivers I use are largely secondhand or otherwise cheap to buy, and the enclosures use either prebuilt boxes, or the boxes are hidden out of sight. Suddenly, speaker building is available to everybody! From the Back Cover Here's a book on building your own speakers that's packed with great new ideas.
