The Westminster Shorter Catechism, penned in 1647, is part of the Westminster Standards to which the Scottish Presbyterian churches still hold. It contains 107 questions, and was intended to be memorized by the children of the congregation.A.A. Hodge had begun work on this book, but he was unable to finish due to his unexpected death in 1886. He had finished the section titled “What are we to believe” which comprised the first forty questions. The work was finished by his cousin, J. Aspinwall Hodge, in 1888. It is designed to give an overview of each question in the Catechism and show how they are connected in order to allow parents to better instruct their children in memorizing it.This book is very valuable to people approaching the Catechism for the first time, or for a quick reference to the intent of each question. It should also be very adequate in its intended role of providing parents with a good starting point when looking to catechize their children. This book was created using OCR software, and was subsequently proof-read closely by a human.
