About Outsidepride Ipomoea Alba Moonflower Seeds – 1

Impomoea alba is a relative of Morning Glory, but the unusual large, brilliant white blooms unfold at night instead of the morning. Moonflower loves to climb, so give it a structure like a trellis or arbor. The blooms are known for their lovely scent. Moonflower is wonderful for planting next to a porch or windows where the lovely scent can be enjoyed in the summer evening breeze. Moonflower seed has a hard seed coat. To improve germination, nick the seed with a knife and soak the seed overnight in tap water. Start the seeds directly outside in a sunny location. Space the plants about 9 - 12 inches apart, cover with 1/2 inch of soil and keep the seed moist. With a temperature of 65 70F, germination is usually within 21 days. In areas with a late spring, the seed can be started indoors and transplanted outside when the seedlings have 2 3 leaves. Grow Moonflower in full sun and in well-drained soil.
